Further on the High Alpine Road, after the Timmelsbach Bridge, an accessible cube awaits you – “The Smuggler”. Here you will get an impression of the dangers the smugglers were exposed to in the high mountains. A smuggler had to walk a good 10 hours – mostly at night – and heavily loaded with a full truck, across the Timmelsjoch. There was always a danger to life from avalanches, falling rocks, freezing to death, falling or even trigger-happy customs officers.
